MOVEMENT ASSESSMENT

Whatever your exercise needs may be it all starts with an assessment. Initials assessments includes the following:

  • Understanding exercise goals

  • Review of medical history 

  • Postural exam

  • Movement Analysis

  • Additional measurements are available specific to injuries, pre/post natal health, and other fitness needs

EXERCISE REHABILITATION

A well designed exercise programs can improve function and reduce pain. You can benefit if you experience any of the these:

  • Chronic aches and pains (e.g. neck, back, knee etc)

  • Acute or chronic sprains and strains

  • Poor posture

  • General weakness and trouble completing daily activities

PRE & POST NATAL FITNESS

Fitness is an ideal way to promote mom and baby health during pregnancy and postpartum. Specialized exercise programs can help minimize the risk of and/or promote healing of these common conditions:

  • Diastasis Rectus Abdominis ("mummy tummy")

  • Incontinence and Pelvic Organ Prolapse

  • Back, hip, and pelvic pain

  • Postural changes associated with pregnancy and nursing

Shirley is a Registered Kinesiologist and CSEP certified personal trainer with a passion for helping individuals move better, feel stronger, and achieve active, healthy lifestyles. She has extensive knowledge of exercise-based rehabilitation protocols for musculoskeletal injuries, pre & post-natal fitness programming, and exercise training to improve overall health, fitness, and performance. 

Shirley earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Health Science from York University and went on to complete her Master of Science degree in Exercise Sciences at the University of Toronto. The focus of her Masters work was on motor control and learning and she applies this knowledge in helping individuals learn and re-learn how to connect with the bodies.

She regularly participates in continuing education to further her skills and contributes to the education of other fitness and allied healthcare professionals
